Is Your Vehicle Ready for the Storm.

Here are a few tips that will help ensure you and your car will make it through a storm. A properly maintained car will keep you safe on the road.

- Make sure you car is up to date with all recommended services.
- Check your wiper blades and consider winter wiper blades.
- Make sure all exterior lights are working.
- Ensure your car’s heater and defroster are working properly. You’re going to want a nice warm
car on these cold winter days.
- Check the condition of your car’s tires and consider snow tires. Snow tires have a huge
advantage over regular tires during cold winter driving.
- Make sure the engine has the proper antifreeze protection, if not; the engine may freeze
   in frigid temperatures.
- If your car battery is more than 3 years old, stop by and will check.  A weak battery will
fail with out warning and may leave you stranded out in the cold.
- Make sure your windshield washer fluid is topped off.  And always carry an extra bottle in
  the trunk.
- Carry a blanket in the car, along with drinking water, a flashlight and snacks.
- Make sure you have your cell phone and a list of emergency contacts.
- Keep a small shovel and sand or kitty litter for traction if you get stuck in snow or ice.
- Slow down during a storm.  Excessive speed causes more accidents than any other reason.
- Ensure friends and family know your whereabouts during a storm.

Remember Last Winter?

Is Your Car Ready?

Unless you spent last winter on a warm tropical island, the memory of last winter is a good lesson of just how cruel Mother Nature can be.  Before long, winter will once again be upon us.  As a result of last winter's harsh weather there was a significant increase of winter related car problems.  Many of these problems were due to lack of proper vehicle maintenance and may have been avoided.  Also, the cold, ice, snow, salt and wind can have damaging effects on your vehicle.

The Best insurance against a breakdown or a no start on a cold winter day is preventive maintenance.  And the best time to have your car checked out for the winter is now.  some of the more critical items to inspect are:  The battery, antifreeze, heater, hoses, belts, defroster, tires, fluids, wipers, lights, brakes, suspension and filters.  Also, ensure your car is up to date with all required maintenance services.

Be prepared this winter and ensure you have the proper tires on your vehicles.
